The project

Fort is an exterior set about mass, light, and ground. The building had to sit in place, with walls and landscape in one read, not as a model dropped onto a white field.

Wide cameras hold volume and approach. Closer stills then pick up texture and shadow on the masonry without losing the overall form. A side elevation keeps a simple line for boards that need the building as a silhouette as well as a place.

The work is for a client who needed the fort to feel heavy and true. We kept the cameras quiet so light across the walls does the talking.

Fort — camera 01 exterior

Still 01

Wide exterior. Mass and ground plane so the fort sits in place, not on a white void. This is the still that locates the building: how it meets the land, and how much sky it is allowed to take.

Fort — camera 02 exterior

Still 02

A second camera on volume. Light across the walls so the form is readable from the approach. The hour is chosen so shadow describes the mass without flattening the masonry.

Fort — camera 04 exterior

Still 03

Closer still. Texture and shadow on the masonry without losing the overall mass. It is the camera for people who need to feel the wall, not only the outline.

Fort — camera 05 exterior

Still 04

Side elevation. The building as a line in the landscape, simple enough for a sales board. Proportion stays honest so the still can sit next to drawings as well as photographs.

Fort — camera 07 exterior

Still 05

Tight exterior. A last camera for detail when the deck needs one more crop. The frame stays architectural: edge, light, and the weight of the form in a smaller picture.
